Times Are A Changing
The conversation around cannabis has taken a drastic turn in the last few decades. There are still lingering opinions that consuming the plant is harmful or wrong in some way. Yet, there are many daily smokers out there functioning normally in life while toking up. They raise kids, go to work, and you best believe they have dinner on the table every night! Most likely due to the munchies.
The culture that revolved around the idea of weed in the sixties and seventies has shifted. Now a broader and more accepted idea has emerged. It no longer encompasses only hippies, hoodlums, and stoner bums. A new narrative is emerging, one that involves parents, business men and women, artists, conservatives- everyone. In comparison to the craziness going on in the world today, cannabis doesn’t seem that bad.
Nowadays families are bonding over bong rips in the living room. There are employers and employees’ alike smoking on the job. There are people from all walks of life and generations coming together over a joint. The conversation has changed and we can’t ignore it, not only for us habitual stoners sake, but for the sake of all those who use cannabis for medicinal use.
Seriously, if we can accept alcohol and cigarettes as an everyday norm then why not cannabis? To put it in perspective, there are about 480,000 deaths a year from cigarettes. Right behind that is alcohol with roughly 88,000 deaths on an annual basis according to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. You want to know how many deaths a year are from smoking Mary Jane? Well I couldn’t find that answer, because there are no statistics on their site about death directly caused by smoking herb. So let’s drop the act! Enjoy your pot and smoke your duby. Then don’t forget to pass it round and post it on the app!
